How to setup my own domain name to my FiveM server? (Cloudflare)

Linking Your Domain to Your FiveM Server with Cloudflare

Linking your domain to your FiveM server via Cloudflare helps you create an easier-to-remember address for your server.

Follow these steps to set up your domain correctly.

Step 1: Create a Cloudflare Account

Go to the Cloudflare website and create a free account if you don’t already have one.

Follow the registration instructions and add your domain to Cloudflare.

Step 2: Change the Nameservers

Cloudflare will provide you with custom nameservers.

Log in to your domain registrar and replace the current nameservers with the ones from Cloudflare.

This may take a few hours to take effect.

Step 3: Add a DNS Record

Log in to your Cloudflare account and select your domain.

Go to the DNS tab in the Cloudflare dashboard.

Add a new record:

  • Click Add Record
  • Select A as the record type
  • For Name, enter the subdomain you want to use (e.g., play for play.yourdomain.com)
  • For IPv4 address, enter the IP address of your FiveM server
  • Set Proxy status to DNS Only (grey cloud)
  • Click Save

Step 4: Add an SRV Record (for custom ports)

If your FiveM server uses a non-standard port (not 30120), add an SRV record:

  • Click Add Record
  • Select SRV as the record type
  • Fill in the fields as follows:

Name: _cfx._udp.play.yourdomain.com
TTL: Auto
Priority: 0
Weight: 5
Port: 30120 (or your custom FiveM server port)
Target: play.yourdomain.com

  • Click Save

Step 5: Test Your Domain

Allow a few minutes for DNS to update.

Then try connecting to your FiveM server using the new domain (e.g., play.yourdomain.com) to verify everything works.
